With one of the largest and youngest digital native populations in the world, Indonesia represents long-term ecosystem growth potential.

An event here wouldn’t just be impactful short-term it would seed the next wave of contributors.

Representing the collective interests of Lisk Indonesia and Optimism Indonesia (Part Of Superchain) , I am pleased to offer my formal support for this proposal. Our advocacy is rooted in the conviction that the Southeast Asian corridor is not merely a regional market, but a critical geopolitical and technological nexus for the Ethereum ecosystem’s longterm scalability.

The Strategic Rationale for Southeast Asia

The candidacy of Southeast Asia and Indonesia specifically is supported by several key structural pillars:

  • Accelerated OnChain Adoption Curves: SEA consistently exhibits some of the highest global penetration rates for decentralized technologies. This is underpinned by a “leapfrog” digital culture where mobile first populations bypassed legacy banking in favor of digital native payment architectures.

  • Transition from Consumption to Production: We are witnessing a fundamental shift in the regional labor economy. SEA is evolving from a high volume user base into a sophisticated builder centric ecosystem. The proliferation of local developer cohorts and startups indicates a maturing infrastructure capable of sustaining core protocol contributions.

  • Demographic Dividend and Human Capital: The region’s youth-weighted demographic profile provides a regenerative pipeline of tech literate talent. This creates an ideal environment for developer onboarding and high velocity experimentation in Web3 entrepreneurship.

  • Economic Efficiency and Operational Agility: As a high impact, cost efficient innovation hub, SEA allows founders to optimize their “burn rate” while iterating on products. This lower barrier to entry fosters a diverse range of use cases that are often price prohibitive in Western tech centers.

  • Structural Decentralization of the Ecosystem: Despite these metrics, SEA remains an underutilized asset in the global Ethereum discourse. Establishing a significant presence here such as Devcon directly addresses the geographical decentralization of the network

If Devcon is held in Indonesia, the impact on the SEA market could be significant: Indonesia could emerge as a regional Web3 hub and temporarily rival Singapore as the primary event center, making it easier and more affordable for SEA builders to attend while driving a surge in hackathons, meetups, L2 Hypes or DAO and stronger builder network effects. Historically, Devcon attracts VCs, infrastructure founders, L2 teams, and tooling companies, meaning SEA startups could gain global exposure without relocating, increase regional deal flow, and position Indonesia as a discovery market for investors ultimately accelerating the funding pipeline. From a talent perspective, Devcon acts as a knowledge transfer catalyst through workshops led by core builders, university onboarding, and increased adoption of Solidity and infrastructure development, creating a talent flywheel. Narratively, hosting Devcon in Indonesia could shift global perception of SEA from merely a user market to a builder market, while reinforcing Indonesia’s position as an emerging crypto economy and attracting greater regulatory and institutional interest over the long term.

Tangerang BSD is also works! It’s located near Jakarta, there’s ICE Convention Center, it’s a big venue, accommodating transportation access and hotels too

Hotels near ICE:

  • Hotel Santika Premiere ICE BSD City
  • Mercure Tangerang BSD City
  • Novotel Tangerang BSD City

Other alternative to be considered:

  • Jakarta Convention Center → better public transportation line (MRT station, Transjakarta line, Train line), more hotels, located in central of South Jakarta, and it’s surrounded by center of Indonesia’s tech hubs (SCBD, Kuningan, etc), here we have a looot of tech companies and emerging web3 companies, communities, and the people <3

Hotels near JCC:

  • Hotel Mulia Senayan

  • Hotel Fairmont Senayan
  • Artotel Senayan

I strongly support the proposal to host Devcon in Jakarta, Indonesia.

Jakarta represents a unique intersection between regulatory maturity, mass adoption, and a fast-growing developer ecosystem. Indonesia is not just another emerging crypto market. It is one of the few countries that has formally integrated crypto into its national financial framework through the P2SK Law under OJK oversight. That shift signals long-term institutional seriousness, not short-term hype.

From a community standpoint, Jakarta offers access to one of the largest on-chain user bases in the world. With over 19 million registered crypto traders and strong grassroots communities such as Ethereum Jakarta, Base Indonesia, and university blockchain clubs at university like Universitas Indonesia, Gadjah Mada University, Bina Nusantara University, Devcon would immediately plug into a vibrant, technically curious generation.

Strategically, this is bigger than location. Hosting Devcon in Jakarta positions Ethereum at the center of Southeast Asia’s regulatory experimentation and Real-World Asset tokenization push. Indonesia’s focus on RWA, financial inclusion, and hybrid finance models makes it a real-world laboratory for sovereign-scale Ethereum integration. Few regions offer that level of live policy alignment combined with mass retail participation.

Logistically, Jakarta has proven capability. It has successfully hosted the 43rd ASEAN Summit and G20 ministerial events without incident. Venue options such as the Jakarta Convention Center, ICE BSD, and NICE PIK provide capacity flexibility for 10,000 to 40,000 attendees, with modern infrastructure and competitive cost structures compared to Western cities.

Cost efficiency is another advantage. Accommodation, food, and transport are significantly more affordable than Europe or North America, increasing accessibility for builders from emerging markets. This directly aligns with Ethereum’s global and inclusive ethos.

There are logistical complexities such as traffic and jurisdictional coordination, but these are manageable with structured transport planning and centralized permitting. The city has repeatedly handled events of similar scale under high-security frameworks.

Devcon in Jakarta would not just be a conference. It would be a strategic move that connects Ethereum core development with one of the world’s most active and rapidly maturing digital asset ecosystems. It strengthens Ethereum’s presence in ASEAN, expands participation beyond traditional Western hubs, and reinforces its role as a neutral global infrastructure layer.

Jakarta is ready, and the timing is right.

LFG :rocket::rocket:

Exactly. While Jakarta is the perfect fit location where the central business and crypto development is there with the various international event infrastructure available, Many cities nearby can be reached or come along, and vice versa, to get involved together at Devcon 9 2027 Jakarta.

  • Bandung: the capital city of West Java. Some call it “The Paris of Java” or “ City of Flowers”, surrounded by natural wonders, delicious cuisine, and, as it is well said, many emerging tech developers are from here, and it only takes 30 minutes using the bullet train; Whoosh, from Jakarta.
  • Bogor: one of the major cities in West Java, a southern urban area of Jakarta. takes only 45-90 minutes to drive from Central Jakarta. Such a short gateway to get another style of Indonesian cuisine in many hills. Some call this city a rainy city and a gastronomic city.
  • Bekasi: Don’t take this city underrated. Bekasi is the 3rd/4th largest city and a vital eastern satellite city of Jakarta. Bekasi is the largest industrial cluster in SEA, and many web3 projects and developers come from here. Very reachable with the Commuter Line train, TransJakarta bus, LRT train, and even by motorcycle or car.
  • Tanggerang: A modern major city of Banten, as the vital western satellite city of Jakarta. While the Soekarno-Hatta International Airport is administratively located there, Tanggerang is the 2nd hub of industry after Bekasi. Many new build infrastructures are available here, including ICE BSD. Where everyone can reach it easily too with the Commuter Line train, TransJakarta bus, motorcycle, and car.

I can’t imagine how amazing it would be if Devcon 9 2027 can be held in Jakarta and many friends from many places can come together on that day.

Indonesia is ready! Jakarta is ready!

We’re totally supporting this proposal and Jakarta as a future Devcon host :building_construction:

Over the past few years, we’ve seen a consistent rise in serious builders, university communities, and ecosystem contributors across Indonesia. The energy here is growing.

Bringing Devcon to Jakarta would spotlight a new wave of developers who are actively shipping, experimenting, and contributing to the broader Ethereum ecosystem.

The builders are here.

I strongly support Jakarta for Devcon IX. As a tech and crypto professional active in Indonesia’s on-chain ecosystem, I can attest that Jakarta is not only a vibrant builder community but also a strategic bridge between global Ethereum development and real-world institutional adoption. Indonesia’s rapid growth, regulatory sophistication, and world-class venues make it an ideal host. Let’s make #DevconJakarta2027 happen!

Jakarta is a strategic choice for Devcon because Indonesia represents one of the fastest-growing digital economies in Southeast Asia, with a rapidly expanding blockchain and developer ecosystem. The country has a large and active crypto user base, clear regulatory frameworks, and increasing institutional and government support for innovation.

Hosting Devcon in Jakarta would unlock access to millions of Web3 users and builders eager to contribute to Ethereum’s growth.

Additionally, Jakarta offers strong international connectivity, competitive event costs, and modern infrastructure capable of supporting a global conference at scale.

Bringing Devcon to Jakarta would signal a meaningful commitment to emerging markets that are actively building the future of decentralized technology.

Jakarta is the perfect pick because it’s where a massive wave of Web3 talent and projects meet a government and fintech scene that’s actually leaning in, creating a “let’s build” energy that’s hard to find anywhere else.

I totally agree if Devcon is held in Jakarta, Indonesia. I’m sure web3 enthusiast, exchange company, and community will be very happy and excited, considering the large number of idea and amazing project comes from their mind for solve real worldwide problem:star_struck::fire:

Jakarta has an active and growing Web3 builder community. Many builders here regularly attend and organize local Ethereum-related events, including meetups, workshops, and hackathons.

I’ve personally attended several hackathons and community events in Jakarta, and the energy and participation are consistently strong.

Hosting an Ethereum event in Jakarta would be a great opportunity to engage directly with this builder community and further support the ecosystem’s growth in the region.

Jakarta should host Devcon!!! :indonesia: . The regulatory clarity is the real differentiator OJK oversight, P2SK framework, actual infrastructure being built around crypto. Most markets either embrace it or ignore it. Indonesia’s doing the hard work.

#DevconJakarta2027

We strongly support Jakarta as the host city for Devcon IX. Indonesia has emerged as one of the fastest-growing and most dynamic markets in the global cryptocurrency and Web3 ecosystem, making Jakarta a strategic and meaningful location for this prestigious event.

Indonesia’s crypto adoption is remarkable in scale. As of early 2026, the number of registered cryptocurrency investors in Indonesia has surpassed 20 million people, positioning the country among the largest crypto markets globally. In 2025 alone, total crypto transaction value exceeded Rp 482 trillion, reflecting not just speculative interest but consistent and large-scale engagement with blockchain technology. These figures demonstrate that Indonesia is not a peripheral market — it is a core growth engine for global Web3 adoption.

Indonesia has also ranked among the top countries globally in crypto adoption indexes, underscoring strong grassroots participation, retail engagement, and real-world blockchain usage. This level of adoption reflects a vibrant and expanding ecosystem of developers, founders, creators, and communities building on Ethereum and other decentralized protocols.

Hosting Devcon IX in Jakarta would align deeply with the vision of Vitalik Buterin — a vision centered on decentralization, global inclusion, and empowering emerging markets. Southeast Asia represents one of the most dynamic frontiers for Ethereum’s growth, and Jakarta stands at the heart of that momentum. Bringing Devcon IX to Jakarta would embody Ethereum’s commitment to global accessibility, not just established Western tech hubs.

Jakarta offers world-class infrastructure, international connectivity, and a rapidly maturing startup ecosystem. As the capital of Southeast Asia’s largest economy and one of the region’s fastest-growing digital markets, Jakarta provides both scale and strategic relevance. Devcon IX in Jakarta would:

  • Strengthen Ethereum’s presence in emerging markets.

  • Empower millions of users and developers who are actively building in the region.

  • Bridge global innovators with Southeast Asia’s thriving Web3 ecosystem.

  • Demonstrate Ethereum’s commitment to real-world adoption beyond traditional centers of influence.

Devcon has always represented more than just a conference — it is a symbol of Ethereum’s global community. Hosting it in Jakarta would reflect the true spirit of decentralization: inclusive, borderless, and forward-looking.

Dan jujur saja, sudah saatnya Asia Tenggara — khususnya Indonesia — jadi pusat perhatian dunia Web3. Jakarta siap, komunitasnya kuat, dan momentumnya sedang besar banget. Let’s make it happen! :rocket:

A Call to Support Jakarta as the Next Host of Devcon IX

We call on the global Ethereum community to support Jakarta as the next host city for Devcon IX.

Indonesia represents one of the strongest growth stories in the global crypto ecosystem. With more than 20 million registered crypto investors as of early 2026 and over Rp 482 trillion in crypto transactions recorded in 2025, Indonesia stands among the largest and most active crypto markets in the world. These numbers are not just statistics — they represent millions of individuals engaging with blockchain technology at scale.

Indonesia consistently ranks among the top countries globally in crypto adoption, reflecting strong grassroots participation and real-world blockchain usage. This is not a passive market. It is an ecosystem filled with developers, founders, creators, validators, and communities building meaningful solutions on Ethereum and other decentralized networks.

Supporting Jakarta as the next host of Devcon IX means supporting decentralization in action. It means recognizing that innovation is no longer concentrated in traditional tech hubs alone. Southeast Asia — and particularly Indonesia — is shaping the next wave of Web3 growth.

Jakarta offers:

  • A massive and active crypto user base

  • A rapidly expanding developer and startup ecosystem

  • Strong digital economy fundamentals

  • Strategic geographic access to the broader Asia-Pacific region

Devcon has always symbolized Ethereum’s commitment to global inclusion. By choosing Jakarta, the community would reinforce the principle that Ethereum belongs to everyone — including emerging markets driving real adoption today.

Now is the time to stand behind Jakarta.
Now is the time to bring Devcon IX to Southeast Asia.

Let’s unite and show our support for Jakarta as the next host of Devcon IX. :rocket::indonesia:

Indonesia isn’t just a big market, it’s a builder market.

Our Ethereum community is young, hungry, and consistently active through every cycle. From grassroots meetups to serious developer initiatives, the energy here is real and growing fast.

Bringing Devcon to Indonesia would unlock massive new contributors across Southeast Asia and accelerate long-term ecosystem growth.

It’s time for Devcon to come to Indonesia :indonesia:

As co-founder of Ethereum Jakarta (ETHJKT), Indonesia’s Web3 developer community (600+ members), I fully support this proposal.

We’ve been on the ground running EVM bootcamps, hackathon prep, and developer workshops for years — our community has produced multiple ETHGlobal finalists and winners. The builder density here is real and growing fast.

Devcon in Jakarta would be a massive signal to 22M+ registered crypto users that Ethereum is serious about Southeast Asia. Combined with Indonesia’s P2SK regulatory evolution and the National Crypto Bourse, this is exactly where Ethereum should be planting its flag.

We have the community, the infrastructure, and the readiness. Let’s make it happen.

Fully supporting this proposal

Esta es una buena sugerencia.

Jakarta is actually one of the strongest contenders for a future Devcon (specifically Devcon IX), and the Ethereum community is one of the leading communities from which everyone in Indonesia takes inspiration. I actively join and make a crypto event alongside Laras and Alby from the Utopia Club, and here is some of my thoughts about why Devcon IX fits in Jakarta:

  1. Unmatched Venue Capacity
Handling the logistics for a massive 20,000-person gathering is a heavy lift, but Jakarta has the exact infrastructure needed to prevent bottlenecks: ICE BSD and JCC with the GBK can be the solution. With a massive 220,000 sqm area and 10 exhibition halls, it allows for the interconnected, multi-stage layouts, dedicated hackathon zones, and seamless crowd flow that a decentralized conference requires.

  2. High-Density Tech Infrastructure
The GBK area is currently serving as a pilot for Cisco Wi-Fi 7 “Smart Stadium” infrastructure. For a developer conference where thousands of people are simultaneously live-coding, syncing nodes, and running on-chain transactions, having this kind of industrial-grade, low-latency connectivity is absolutely non-negotiable.

  3. The Ultimate Canvas for Side Events
Creative production and event organizing for Devcon extends far beyond the main stages. The core conference always spawns hundreds of independent Community-Led Sessions (CLS). The dense clustering of 5-star hotels around Senayan, combined with vast outdoor spaces like Plaza Timur, provides the perfect canvas for brand-sponsored afterparties, VIP sunset dinners, and localized community hubs.

  4. A Powerful Regulatory Narrative
Beyond the physical logistics, Jakarta offers a unique strategic storyline for the crypto industry. Because Indonesia has established the National Crypto Bourse (CFX) and the newest launch International Crypto Exchange (ICEX), bringing Devcon to Jakarta represents a major shift. It moves the ecosystem from merely building applications to actively collaborating with a sovereign state that is laying the legal and technical rails for a decentralized future.

I highly support Devcon IX being held in Jakarta, Indonesia.
