ARG Community Hub: Mobile Hub

Mobile Hub — The On-Chain Mobile Showcase

Devconnect Buenos Aires 2025 · Community Hub Proposal
By: Ian (aka @forestkeeperio) from the Mobil3 team.

Summary of Proposal

Mobil3 Hub is a bilingual, non-technical showcase where attendees explore what’s trending in on-chain mobile—live demos, initiative spotlights, and a “State of Mobile on Ethereum” gallery. It converts World’s Fair inspiration into discoverability: who’s building what, where to try it, and how it fits Latin America’s real usage patterns—no shilling, no pitches.

Motivation and Rationale

How would this Community Hub enhance the attendee experience?

  • Discovery > theory: A curated “demo alley” of mobile apps ready to try on-device (QR-based installs, TestFlight/Play links).
  • Trends, not tutorials: 10-minute Trend Briefings (e.g., passkeys UX, push-to-return, deep links, light clients, embedded wallets, etc).
  • Context for LatAm: A “Mobile in Argentina” wall (prepaid data, intermittent networks, mid-range hardware) mapping real constraints to showcased apps.
  • Human connection: Scheduled Meet the Builder micro-sessions (5–7 min product stories, no code), plus a neutral lounge for intros.

How does it complement Devconnect ARG and the first Ethereum World’s Fair? What unique piece does it add?

  • The Fair exhibits the ecosystem; Mobil3 Hub makes mobile apps findable and testable in one walkable space.
  • Cross-pavilion connector: Wallets, identity, payments, consumer fintech, social, and gaming—curated into coherent, try-it-now journeys.
  • Bilingual curation (ES/EN) for global visitors and local builders.

Why is this topic significant, and why a Community Hub instead of a one-time talk/workshop?

  • Mobile is where adoption happens, but the landscape is fragmented. A persistent, drop-in showcase beats a one-off talk for real discovery and network formation.
Non-technical visitors get hands-on exposure; builders get signal (what resonates, who to partner with).

How does it support builders and their journey?

  • Signal & distribution: Centralized foot traffic, guided tours, and a daily digest (what shipped, what to try).
  • Warm intros: Neutral staff schedules 1:1s between wallets, infra, and app teams based on fit (not sponsorship).
  • Artifacts that outlive Devconnect: A public Mobile Trend Map 2025 (one-pager) and a Who’s Hiring/Looking board.

Traction:

Implementation

This is not a technical/coding space. It’s a curated product showcase + cultural meeting point.

Core zones:

  1. Demo Pods (8–12): Each pod = 1 team, device stand, QR, “What to try in 60s” placard.
  2. Now Playing Screen: Rotating schedule of demos, “up next,” and quick trend cards.
  3. Trend Briefing Corner: Small standing area for 10-minute, non-technical overviews (2–3/day).
  4. LatAm Context Wall: Data-light UX patterns, low-end device notes, Spanish/English micro-copy examples.
  5. Lounge & Intros Desk: Quiet tables for 1:1s (curated intros by neutral staff).

Production requirements (minimal viable):

  • Devconnect: 8–12 tables, 24–36 chairs, reliable power, Wi-Fi, 2× 55–65" displays, basic PA for short announcements, 2 whiteboards.
  • Mobil3 provides: Signage/wayfinding, printed placards, QR collateral, device stands, 8–12 mid-range Android/iOS test devices, power banks, mixed cables, SIMs/hotspots for live demos, staff tablets for scheduling.

Sample program – WIP, this is just a draft version

Time Block Outcome
10:00–10:20 Opening Tour: What’s Live Today Visitors know what to try first
10:30–12:30 Rotating Demo Pod Sessions Hands-on trials + short Q&A
12:45–13:00 Trend Briefing #1 10-min, non-technical “what’s new”
14:00–16:00 Themed Showcase (e.g., Payments / Identity / Consumer Apps) Curated sequence of live demos
16:15–16:30 Trend Briefing #2 Second 10-min snapshot
16:30–17:30 Meet the Builder (5–7 min stories) Founder product stories, no slides
17:30–18:00 Daily Wrap: 5 Things to Try Tomorrow Digest + tomorrow’s roster

How does this support the application-layer focus?

  • Everything shown is application-layer and user-facing: wallets, consumer fintech, identity, social, gaming—in app form, ready to try, framed for Argentina’s and Latam conditions.

Outputs / KPIs:

  • Engagement: # of unique scans/installs, dwell time per pod, foot traffic counts.
  • Connections: # curated intros scheduled, follow-up meetings booked.
  • Signal: Daily “Top Questions Users Asked” + “Friction Patterns” one-pager.
  • Longevity: Public Mobile Trend Map 2025 and directory of showcased apps.

Team

This initiative is being managed by Mobil3. Our team brings extensive experience in community building, event logistics, and technical execution:

  • Ian Lee (Mobil3 Lead): Overall project strategy, stakeholder management, risk assessment, and ensuring legal compliance.

  • Maria de la Guia (Logistics & Operations Lead): Flawless execution of all logistical aspects, vendor relationships, on-site crisis management, and ensuring a welcoming environment.

Why this team?

  • Track record running Spanish/English community programs, a high-signal meetup, and a hackathon focused on mobile outcomes—product-first, non-technical curation.

Neutrality & welcoming policy:

  • No token or pay-to-play promotion. Inclusion by editorial criteria (relevance, usability, live demo readiness).
  • Affiliations disclosed; staff rotate across pods; code of conduct posted.
  • All wayfinding and briefings are project-agnostic; brand presence never overrides visitor value.

Community connections:

  • LatAm networks across Mexico, Argentina, Colombia, Peru, Chile, Uruguay, Ecuador, etc.
  • Specific communities to be added soon.

Hello @forestkeeperio and co-organizers,

Thank you for applying to organize a Community Hub for Devconnect ARG! Your proposal has now entered the voting phase.

In the coming days, the Devconnect team will review all submissions and select the ones that best reflect the spirit of the first Ethereum World’s Fair. Selected proposals will be announced during the week of September 8. After that, we’ll move into a collaborative phase to refine each Hub’s concept, programming, and production needs.

We appreciate your contribution to shaping the first Ethereum World’s Fair.

Looking forward to see this edition community hubs!

Hi @forestkeeperio,

Thank you for sharing your proposal with us. The space for Community Hubs at the Ethereum World’s Fair is limited, which means we’ve had to make some difficult choices. Unfortunately, your proposal wasn’t selected as an independent topic this time.

That said, we’d like to learn more about your work and explore synergies with other initiatives happening during the World’s Fair. For this reason, we’ll reach out for a discovery call.

We truly value the initiative and ideas you bring to the community, and we look forward to seeing you at the first Ethereum World’s Fair!

With gratitude,
Ornella & the Devconnect team
