D/acc Community Hub Proposal

Summary of Proposal

The d/acc Community Hub builds on the 10-day Human Tech residency at Edge City Patagonia, where international builders first gather to explore challenges in decentralization, security, resilience, and more. In Buenos Aires, the hub extends this pipeline through meetups, demos, and art, shaping Ethereum’s next era of human-aligned progress.

Core Theme

D/ACC = Decentralized and Democratic Differential Defensive Acceleration

The core idea of D/ACC is to build technologies that shift the offense–defense balance toward defense, enabling humanity to move fast without breaking things. This means accelerating progress in ways that increase resilience, reduce catastrophic risks, and preserve freedom, without concentrating power in centralized authorities.

The D/ACC Community Hub explores how defensive technologies in the worlds of atoms and bits can create a more stable, secure, and human-centered future. It’s about practical systems that protect people while enabling innovation, not slowing it down.

Sub-Themes

World of Atoms

Macro Defense – Physical resilience: infrastructure, disaster preparedness, and resilient housing

Micro Defense – Bio-defense: pandemic prevention, pathogen monitoring, passive protections like HEPA filtration

World of Bits

Cyber Defense – Secure infrastructure: cryptography, formal verification, hardware security, zero-knowledge proofs

Info Defense – Public epistemics: tools for filtering information and improving trust without centralized gatekeepers

Survive / Thrive Technologies

Longevity & Neurotech – Extending healthy lifespan and enhancing brain–computer interfaces

Decentralized AI – Open, secure AI systems resistant to centralized control

Physical Abundance – Affordable, sustainable housing, solar punk cities, and space exploration

Collaboration Tech – Quadratic voting, public goods funding, and experimental governance models for resilient decision-making

Motivation and Rationale

The d/acc Community Hub will bring a unique layer to Devconnect Argentina by centering on Ethereum’s role in differential, defensive acceleration.

In a world where rapid technological progress can increase existential risk, D/ACC asks a simple but vital question: Does this technology shift the offense–defense balance toward defense? The Hub will serve as a focal point for exploring that question through the lens of Ethereum’s most urgent real-world applications, from secure digital identity and public epistemics to bio-defense and decentralized AI.

Unlike traditional talks or workshops, the Hub is designed as an ongoing, participatory environment where builders can:

  • Map out tech trees for defensive Ethereum applications
  • Exchange ideas and produce new content, frameworks, and shared resources
  • Test D/ACC principles against active projects to identify risks and mitigation strategies
  • Form resilient coordination patterns for tackling parallel goals across the ecosystem

By fostering sustained, in-depth collaboration, the Hub will nucleate a culture of safety-conscious innovation within the Ethereum community, ensuring that the technologies we accelerate are also the ones that protect us.

Implementation

Production Needs

  • Flexible seating: tables, modular chairs, floor cushions
  • Projector, microphone, speakers, and strong Wi-Fi
  • Power outlets and charging stations
  • Soft lighting, printed zines or prompts, visual elements that reflect cultural values
  • Devconnect standard infrastructure for signage, cleaning, and safety

Sample Program

| 10:00–11:00 | Morning grounding circle and intention setting |
| 11:00–13:00 | Community conversations (topics change daily) |
| 13:00–14:00 | Communal lunch and open discussion |
| 14:00–15:30 | Lightning demos: privacy tech, DeSci, DAOs |
| 15:30–17:30 | Co-working sessions or curated workshops |
| 17:30–18:30 | Collective reflection and open mic |

Optional evening program: music, storytelling, art, and privacy-focused networking

How This Supports Devconnect

This year’s Devconnect focus on the application layer is fully supported by the d/acc Hub. Topics include:

  • Real-world deployments of ZK and privacy tech
  • Human-centered design in decentralized identity
  • Experimental governance and local coordination tooling
  • Scalable, non-financial Ethereum applications rooted in cultural relevance
  • Public goods, open knowledge, and the future of decentralized science

Team (Growing)

Organizers

  • Shady El Damaty – Co-founder of Holonym Foundation; privacy researcher, system architect, and DeSci advocate
  • Nanak Nihal – Co-founder of Holonym Foundation; privacy researcher, system architect
  • Angelica Vidal – Founder of Marble Fountain; strategist working at the intersection of culture, communication, and emerging tech
  • Local collaborators & Partners (TBD) – Argentine artists, technologists, and facilitators supporting programming and grounding

Why This Team

This group has organized immersive gatherings around the world, from salons and side-events to conferences and residencies. Each member brings deep experience with privacy tech, coordination tools, and decentralized governance, combined with an understanding of storytelling and cultural context.

They are already embedded in the communities this hub is designed to serve and are trusted contributors within the broader Ethereum space.

Neutrality and Inclusion

  • No token promotion, branded swag, or sponsor-driven content will be allowed
  • Events will be open and accessible to all Devconnect participants
  • Clear community guidelines will ensure safety, respect, and inclusion
  • Programming will be co-curated with local voices and global contributors
  • The space will remain open-source in spirit and nonprofit in operation

Hello @angelicavidal and co-organizers,

Thank you for applying to organize a Community Hub for Devconnect ARG! Your proposal has now entered the voting phase.

In the coming days, the Devconnect team will review all submissions and select the ones that best reflect the spirit of the first Ethereum World’s Fair. Selected proposals will be announced during the week of September 8. After that, we’ll move into a collaborative phase to refine each Hub’s concept, programming, and production needs.

We appreciate your contribution to shaping the first Ethereum World’s Fair.

Hi @angelicavidal,

Thank you for sharing your proposal with us. The space for Community Hubs at the Ethereum World’s Fair is limited, which means we’ve had to make some difficult choices. Unfortunately, your proposal wasn’t selected as an independent topic this time.

That said, we see strong alignment with the ARG Community Hub Proposal: Pop-Ups & Permanent Hubs proposal. For this reason, we encourage you to connect and explore collaboration with their team, if it feels like a good fit.

We truly value the initiative and ideas you bring to the community, and we look forward to seeing you at the first Ethereum World’s Fair!

With gratitude,
Ornella & the Devconnect team
