Resources Required: A quiet or semi-quiet lounge/corner (or outdoor garden area), standard mic/speaker setup for voice guidance, and schedule integration in the official Devcon attendee app.
What do you suggest?
Host 2–3 daily 20–30 minute guided mindfulness, breathwork, and sensory grounding sessions (morning kick-off, midday reset, and evening decompression). These sessions are tailored specifically to reduce cognitive fatigue, sensory overload, and mental fragmentation caused by rapid hackathon sprint cycles, technical talks, and intense networking.
Motivation & Rationale
-
Improving Attendee Experience: Devcon brings together thousands of researchers, builders, and thinkers. Navigating deep protocol discussions, fast-paced hackathons, and high-density networking creates severe cognitive context switching and mental exhaustion. A dedicated somatic and meditative pause allows attendees to down-regulate their nervous system, refresh mental clarity, and process high volumes of information without burning out.
-
Agnel Vishal is confident that this can be done well and will be worth despite that only few days are there for the event.
-
Ethereum Use Case & Composability:
- Proof of Mindful Attendance / Reset Badges: Attendees can mint a lightweight Soulbound Token (SBT) or ZK-attestation (e.g., via EAS or Zupass) verifying their presence in the reset space.
- Decentralized Coordination for Rest: Showcases how on-chain identity and coordination tools can gamify and incentivize mental wellness, self-care, and intentional downtime alongside hard technical hacking.
Implementation
-
Prior Experience:
- Facilitated meditation, Vipassana, breath observation, Pranic Healing and somatic movement (including Butoh and contemplation practices) within intentional communities and multidisciplinary gatherings in Edge City, Auroville and festival environments (such as Bloom In Green Festival).
- Background in traditional medicine and health tech (Fellowship in Healthcare Tech from IIT Hyderabad; Diploma in Traditional Medicinal & Aromatic Plants), bringing an understanding of cognitive stress, nervous system regulation, and physiological balance.
-
Session Roadmap:
- Morning “Clarity Anchor” (20 min): Vipassana-inspired breath observation and intention-setting before stages and keynotes open.
- Midday “Cognitive Defrag” (15–20 min): Sensory withdrawal (Pratyahara) and nervous-system down-regulation to relieve screen eye-strain and decision fatigue.
- Evening “Integration & Grounding” (30 min): Light somatic release and guided integration circle to decompress from technical debates before afterparties and networking dinners.
Operational Requirements & Ownership
-
What’s Needed at Venue:
- A low-traffic, semi-quiet indoor space or sheltered outdoor lawn.
- 25–30 floor cushions or mats or chairs.
- Basic omnidirectional mic and a clean sound monitor for soft vocal guidance (low volume).
- Inclusion of session times on the official Devcon schedule / event app.
-
Facilitators:
- Agnel Vishal will be on site full-time to coordinate, facilitate every session, manage the space, and assist attendees.
- Agnel Vishal is currently in Edge City and has contacts with other facilitators who can set this up.
-
Potential Integrations:
- Zupass / EAS / Devcon App: For privacy-preserving proof-of-participation checks.
- DeSci & ReFi Communities: Natural cross-pollination with decentralized science, regenerative lifestyle, and mental well-being initiatives present at Devcon.
