How To Be a Crypto Digital Nomad

Please give a short description of the topic/cause for your Community Hub

To bring awareness to the crypto nomad community and digital nomad lifestyle. To show a way of life that optimizes for location independence, remote web3 work, and international web3 friendships. Formats include:

:studio_microphone: Panel talks and fireside chats by prominent crypto nomads and frequent travelers. They are community members, investors and builders who travel at least 50% of the year for various crypto conferences and hackathons. Topics include:

  • How to optimize travel life
  • How to find friends in web3
  • Top crypto hubs around the world
  • Making the most of hackathons and conferences
  • Nomad web3 dating tips
  • Traveling with family
  • Personal do’s and don’ts
  • Working in a fully distributed crypto company (or DAOs where many are anon)

:computer: Workshops:

  • Tips on accommodation, flights, how and what to pack (ledger safety)
  • How to find a remote web3 job
  • Finding crypto communities in Europe, US, Latin America and Asia
  • Taxes & visas
  • Overview of crypto events around the world, where to find one & how to travel to one
  • Difference between nomad, slowmad and promad
  • Breakdown of Vitallik Buterin’s digital nomad lifestyle:https://vitalik.ca/general/2022/06/20/backpack.html

:game_die: Games & Trivia (most crypto friendly countries, etc.)
:clinking_glasses: Happy Hour

What will you offer to the Devcon attendees?

  • A comprehensive guide on how to get started, even if it’s just part-time traveling
  • Office hours to provide custom tips and plans to each attendee that comes
  • Networking - meet web3 builders in the space who live this frequent traveler life, from devs to contributors to investors!

Add a rough outline of your Community Hubs program

A space where existing and aspiring crypto nomads can hang out with each other and share their travel know-how. To show that traveling to global Ethereum events doesn’t have to be lonely and is open to non-technical web3 enthusiasts and minorities as well.

The space would have an area for coffee and breaks to naturally invite people to come hang or work on their laptops (in the true nomad lifestyle), office hour corner, mini stage for talks, and an area for games and giveaways.

List the people who will organise, oversee and be responsible for the Community Hub

Group effort by web3 friends and seasoned crypto nomads:
Juan Guillen - MakerDAO
Filipe Macedo - Talent Protocol
Francesco Renzi - Superfluid Finance
Ivan Porollo - OrangeDAO
Alex Ho - Pine Protocol
Anna - Crypto Nomads Club

Other nomad Web3 guests and speakers for the panel talks, workshops & networking

List the equipment or production needs (see what’s possible in the RFP)

  • Screens, microphone, chairs
  • Internet
  • Lots of access to power
  • Tables & chairs
  • Comfortable sitting - bean bags or couches?
  • The rest will be provided by us (coffee machine, decoration for vibes, brochures, travel items for giveaways)

Hi there,

First of all we would like to thank you for putting together this proposal!

The space allocated to Community Hubs is limited which means we can only accept six proposals.

Many of the proposals we received were very high quality and, unfortunately, we had to take hard decisions. There is simply not enough space to accommodate all of them.

With this post, I’d like to inform you that your proposal was not selected for this year’s Community space.

I did appreciate the thoughts and ideas you had though and if you are interested, we could explore integrating a Crypto Digital Nomad session into one of the open evenings at Devcon (This year, the Devcon venue will be open for much longer than usual which will allow for meetings and conversations to happen after the main program has concluded → Meet Continuous Devcon — Devcon Bogotá, Oct 11 → 14). What do you think?

Again, thank you for showing initiative to contribute to the Devcon Bogotá experience and we hope to see you there soon.

Have a great day,

Franziska & the Devcon team
