Concerns and Downsides

Every location has its pros and cons. It’s important to also consider the potential downsides.

  1. What are possible risks?

At this moment, In Thailand we will have a PM2.5 day randomly. Someday the air is healthy or unhealthy. Since Devcon will happened in Q3/Q4 which is a rain season, then the PM2.5 issue will be better than Q1/Q2.

  1. What could be the downsides?

Traffic in BKK can be bad. Devcon attendees are encouraged not to travel across the city during rush hour. I recommend to host Devcon at a place near BTS or MRT.

Let me add some more info as I have been working on the Bangkok proposal as well.

Venues

  • Bitec is one of the best choices to organize international events. The total capacity of the exhibition halls is 20,000 people. It may not be located at the city center like QSNCC but there is a city train station in just 10 minute walk that make Bitec really easy to access.

  • QSNCC is another excellent choice of venues, with superb facilities and unparalleled services for hosting a wide range of events. QSNCC is located in the center of the city next to the MRT station. This is the most convenient venue among the 3 options in terms of access. The total capacity of the exhibition halls is 20,000 people

  • IMPACT Exhibition and Convention Center Spanning over 140,000 sq meters of indoor spaces, the choice of IMPACT venues and facilities is second to none for every type of event. Although this venue is quite far from downtown, it can host as many as 40,000 people in their exhibition halls, with additional 10,000 seats in the Impact Arena which is often used to host concerts.

About Bangkok

Bangkok is everything you’d expect from the capital of Thailand. It can be noisy, crowded, colorful, exciting, and magical, with centuries-old temples and palaces sitting side by side with 21st-century shopping malls that have a tacky, yet high-end ambience. Here are just some of the never-ending, best things to do in Bangkok.

Cuisine: Thailand is known for having the best and otherworldly cuisines that capture people’s hearts! To recommend all of them would make this post way too long. For instance, we recommend trying Jay Fai’s Crab Omelette, Thip Samai Pad Thai, Mae Varee Mango Sticky Rice and other menus such as our famous Tom Yum Goong (Spicy Shrimp Soup), Som Tam (Spicy Green Papaya Salad), Pad Krapow (Fried Basil), Panang (Curry) and so on.

Bangkok, the capital city of Thailand, is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the world, and for good reason! Here are some of the best places to visit in Bangkok:

  1. The Grand Palace: This stunning palace complex is one of the most iconic landmarks in Bangkok, and is home to several temples and the famous Emerald Buddha.

  2. Wat Pho: Another must-visit temple in Bangkok, Wat Pho is famous for its massive reclining Buddha statue and traditional Thai massage.

  3. Chatuchak Weekend Market: If you love shopping, then Chatuchak is a must-visit! This massive outdoor market has over 8,000 stalls selling everything from clothes and jewelry to art and antiques.

  4. Khao San Road: This bustling street is a hub for backpackers and budget travelers, and is home to countless bars, restaurants, and street food stalls.

  5. Chinatown: Bangkok’s Chinatown is a vibrant and colorful neighborhood that is famous for its street food, markets, and traditional Chinese architecture.

  6. Wat Arun: This beautiful temple is located on the banks of the Chao Phraya River and is known for its stunning architecture and views of the city.

Overall, Bangkok is a city that has something for everyone, from ancient temples and palaces to modern shopping malls and bustling markets. It’s definitely worth a visit! I would strongly support Kevin proposing Bangkok to be the location for Devcon.
