In the process of Ethereum’s continuous development, the Taiwanese community has always played a significant role. We have many EF members in Taiwan, and many world-renowned DeFi projects with core teams in Taiwan, not only because of the environment here It is safe and has a good quality of life. This country’s education and industrial environment are very suitable for developing the blockchain industry.
In addition to the need for high-quality software talents, the blockchain industry must recognize the demand for hardware. From the previous PoW era, Taiwan has produced the highest quality chips in the world’s mining machines, even in the PoS era, many machines and equipment for maintaining network security are still manufactured in Taiwan. It can be seen that Taiwan’s scientific and technological strength has played a very important role in the development of the entire blockchain industry.
And what does this have to do with Devcon?
Taiwan already has a good environment (schools, industry, life), and Devcon is a starting point for more people to join the industry - think if Taiwanese science and engineering students (there are many) can come to Devcon to learn about the latest technology and decide to join this industry, it’ll bring more high-quality talents to the whole industry, and I believe that the high-quality developer community is the enduring secret of Ethereum (look at those Ethereum killers, no one has better developer community than Ethereum, so it’s hard to really kill Ethereum, and it’s even constantly shutting down)
With the motivation to come to Taipei for Devcon, there is nothing to worry about:
- Taiwan is one of the safest countries in the world. Of course, as the capital, Taipei is also very safe.
- The weather in Taipei is relatively comfortable even in winter, neither too hot nor too cold
- The public transportation in Taipei is very advanced, the routes are dense, the environment is comfortable and safe, and the cost is cheap. It can be used as an example for other cities in the world.
- Taipei is only a 30-minute drive from the international airport, and Taiwan is in the middle of East Asia. It only takes up to 12 hours to fly to Taipei from major cities in Europe and America. It is very easy to reach, and we have very high-quality airlines.
- Of course, you should also relax after working hard. Taiwan is a small island, all the fun and delicious food is just next door. Even Taitung (a place like a paradise) is only a 5-hour train away. A lot of foreigners stay there for a long time
- The proportion of Taiwanese who speak English (especially Taipei) is relatively high (compared to Japan or Colombia), so it is unlikely that there will be communication barriers for international people to attend the conference
Finally, as one of the Furucombo team members, many of our core members also live in Taipei, it will be the best thing in 2023 if we can welcome other excellent developers from all over the world to meet, discuss and learn together in Taipei.

在 Ethereum 不斷往前發展的過程中，台灣社群一直扮演了很重要的角色，我們有不少 EF 的成員在台灣，也有不少世界知名的 DeFi projects 核心團隊都在台灣，不只是因為這裡環境安全且生活品質良好，更多的是這個國家的教育以及產業環境非常適合區塊鏈產業的發展。
區塊鏈產業除了需要有高品質的軟體人才外，也無法忽略硬體上的需求 - 從以前的 PoW 時代，台灣生產了全世界礦機中最高品質的晶片，即使到了 PoS 時代我們不需要這樣挖礦了，維護網路安全的機器設備還是很多都是在台灣生產製造的，由此可見台灣的科技實力對整個區塊鏈產業發展扮演了相當重要的角色。
而這又跟 Devcon 有什麼關係呢？
台灣已經有良好的環境（學校、產業、生活），Devcon 是一個可以讓更多人加入這個行業的起始點 - 想想看如果台灣的理工科學生們（為數眾多）能來到 Devcon 接觸最新的技術資訊並決定踏入這個產業，可以替整個產業帶來更多高品質的人才，而我相信高品質的開發者社群正是 Ethereum 歷久不衰的秘密（看看那些 Ethereum 殺手，沒人有比 Ethereum 有更好的開發者社群，也就很難真的把 Ethereum 給殺了，甚至還在不斷的停機呢）
有了來台北舉辦 Devcon 的動機後，剩下的幾乎不用擔心：
- 台灣是世界上數一數二非常安全的國家，當然台北身為首都也是非常的安全
- 台北的天氣即使在冬季都還是相對舒適的，不會太熱也不會太冷
- 台北的大眾運輸非常先進，路線綿密而且環境舒適安全，費用便宜，完全可以做為世界上其他城市的榜樣
- 台北距離國際機場只有 30 分鐘的車程，而台灣又在東亞的中間，從歐美各大城市飛來台北只要最多 12 小時，非常容易到達，而且我們有非常高品質的航空公司，交通不會是問題
- 當然，努力工作之餘也要盡情放鬆，台灣雖然是個小島，但所有好玩的好吃的都在隔壁，最遠的台東（像是天堂般的地方）也只要搭乘 5 小時的火車即可到達 - 非常多外國人在那邊 long stay
- 台灣人說英文（尤其是台北）的人口比例相對高（對比日本或是哥倫比亞的話），所以國際人士來與會是不太會有溝通障礙的
最後，身為 Furucombo 團隊成員之一，我們有很多的核心成員也都住在台北，如果我們能歡迎全世界其他優秀的開發者一起在台北碰面、切磋與學習的話，會是 2023 最棒的事情了，歡迎大家來到台灣，台北！
