🦄 Start Here: How to submit your proposal

Want to suggest an activation or Ethereum app to dogfood at Devcon or Devconnect?

You’re in the right place!

What are DIPs?

Devcon/nect Improvement Proposals (DIPs) are community suggestions for things to add, remove, or improve at the upcoming Devcon or Devconnect.
They’re meant to help us build these events together and make them a place to actually use Ethereum.

What kind of proposals are we looking for?

Anything that helps us dogfood Ethereum and improve the experience.
Some examples — and these are just examples — we’re open to any idea that pushes the boundaries of how Ethereum can be used IRL:

:toolbox: Tools and experiments

  • pay for ticket / hotel / swag with crypto
  • food vouchers, onramps for payments during the event
  • perks for ticket holders
  • voting, raffles, prediction markets
  • discounts or ticket access based on identity or contribution
  • proof of participation
  • auctions or displays

:video_game: Experiences

  • social games (like the frog crypto game iykyk :frog:)
  • treasure hunts in the city or venue
  • interactive art installations
  • playful IRL experiences
  • spontaneous community rituals (e.g. tutu Tuesday, bring-your-own-T-rex)
  • board games, escape games

:iphone: Hardware + software showcases

  • phones, wallets, DIY kits
  • VR/AR experiments

:brain: Meta-proposals

  • improvements to the DIP process itself

Anything that makes Ethereum more usable, fun, or visible is welcome.

How to make your suggestion

  1. Click “Create a new topic” in the DIP category on the forum (top right corner)
  2. Fill out the template that opens up
  3. Share your idea on socials with #DIPs to spark comments + collaborations
  4. We’ll reply and iterate with you on the forum (and maybe hop on a call)
  5. Once there’s a plan, we’ll guide you through creating a formal DIP on GitHub
  6. If your idea is accepted, we’ll support it with comms, visibility, and Devcon/nect tickets for your team

What makes a good DIP?

  • aligns with Devcon(nect)’s Code of Conduct and values
  • driven and owned by your team (not just an idea you want someone else to build)
  • open to collaboration
  • composable with other projects
  • as good as (or better than) the non-blockchain alternative
  • open-source and transparent mindset

We’re excited to hear about your ideas!
