Tabletop Gaming: Level Up At Devcon!

Picture this: amidst the buzz of blockchain brilliance, Devcon attendees gather around tables, strategizing their next move in Settlers of Catan or unraveling crypto lore through AceTCG. Welcome to the ultimate conference power-up – tabletop gaming at Devcon!

Why Tabletop?

Conference fatigue? Not on our watch! We’re bringing attendees together for meaningful moments of connection through the magic of board games. Our previous activations at Farcon and EDCON were a massive hit, with players of all ages spending hours engaged in friendly competition and collaboration.

The Gameplan

  • Daily Tabletop Events: 2-6 PM, we’ll be offering a wide variety of engaging games
  • Game Masters on Duty: We’ll be there explaining rules, welcoming new players, and keeping the good vibes rolling
  • Epic Loot: Fun prizes for raffle winners and tournament champions
  • Level Up: Feedback forms to evolve our tabletop quests for future Devcons

Team Power

This is a collaboration between the /tabletop channel and AceTCG.

About the /tabletop channel:

  • Passionate gamers based in North America pushing to 1000 humans playing board games together
  • Devs developing tooling to help tabletop gamers connect and play more games together
  • Community builders creating a distribution pipeline for board games and board game content of all kinds on Farcaster
  • Excited gamers playing board games as part of ETHDenver, NounsTown LA, OnGame Summer, and beyond!

About AceTCG:
AceTCG is a trading card game that brings crypto lore to life. Originally funded by Gitcoin as an educational public goods project, it’s a fun and accessible way for Devcon attendees to dive into onchain lore. From the reckless FTX Titanic to the Infinite Garden and the wise Satoshi’s Spirit, players connect with the values of open source software through an uplifting narrative.

The Quest (Proposal)

  1. Playground Space: 2-3 tables with chairs for epic gameplay sessions
  2. Schedule Integration: Add our events to the official Devcon schedule so attendees can plan their gaming adventures
  3. Accommodations Support: Both /tabletop and AceTCG are bootstrapping. A boost of $1000 for each team would make this quest possible!
  4. Shipping Address: A Bangkok address to ship a few small to medium-sized game boxes.

Join us in making tabletop gaming an enriching part of Devcon for years to come. Let’s level up networking, deepen connections, and support the growth of decentralized communities – one roll of the dice at a time!

Nice!

Would be great to also accommodate for play testing new game made by anyone interested in bringing them.

I would personally love to bring my prototype and get it play-tested there.

I love that idea! got a link to your prototype?

I think this really leans into the #buidl culture of Devcon

I currently have 2 prototypes but nothing digital.
One is an adaptation of the game conquest.eth in a simplified board game format. I play-tested it at a local board game event.

See tweet: x.com

The other is a new one, resulting from a gam jam i participated in this weekend.
Both still need work and more play tests but i believe they have great potential

I dig it. Would love to test them both out!

Thank you to everyone involved in making Devcon magical and filled with such a playful spirit! We’re so grateful for the grant and the dedicated space for tabletop games. The area got increasingly packed as the week went on, and the response was absolutely incredible. Seeing people connect and have fun over games was exactly what we’d hoped for.

Thank you for supporting our vision of bringing more play to the event - it really added something special to the atmosphere. Would love to see this become a regular feature at future Devcons!

Hope you’re all having a good post-Devcon decompression week and getting some well-deserved rest. Thanks again for helping make this happen! :game_die::sparkles:
