We’ve built an engaging group brainstorming app for Devcon and Devconnect that can help the community share and evaluate more ideas faster for any subject imaginable!
Abstract
Ideologi (pronounced “ideology”) is an entirely new social media platform that communities can join to create token-incentivized group brainstorming tournaments—called hyperlogues—for any subject imaginable. Organizers of these hyperlogues can offer crypto assets to users as a reward for participation. The distribution of these rewards is based on the scores that each user receives from fellow participants for the quality of their contribution. What makes hyperlogues such a breakthrough for mass collaborations is the way in which it sorts and distributes user-generated content for peer review by its participants.
Instead of allowing users to choose what they wish to evaluate (inviting Sybil attacks,
bots, and coordinated ballot-stuffing campaigns), each participant is assigned a unique
set of anonymous entries for comparative evaluation. Not only does this ensure that
every submission is reviewed equally, but it also calculates the relational value of every
entry submitted to the hyperlogue. Since users are spared the uneven task of
attempting to evaluate as many entries as possible, the number of participants that can
work together toward a common goal is virtually unlimited, whether there’s a hundred
users, a thousand users, or more! It’s a real-world marketplace of ideas that divines the
wisdom of the crowd.
• All registered users can initiate a hyperlogue for any topic and with any content
(text, links, images, videos, etc.)
• Tournaments are crowdfunded with contributions from initiators and/or voluntary
participants.
• Financial rewards are calculated and distributed to users based on the size of the
crowdfund pool and the cumulative scores each user receives from fellow participants.
• A complete list of entries, including scores and feedback, are posted at the
conclusion of each hyperlogue.
Motivation & Rationale
One of the biggest challenges for Devcon organizers is finding effective ways to
help participants maximize their engage with others with similar interests at the event, whether they’re in attendance or have joined online. For Devcon, the optimal choice for any solution would be one that showcases the Ethereum network, tools, and services developed by the greater community. The solution should also employ tokenomic incentives that drive adoption and encourage the use of the network.
Ideologi offers a novel solution for generating consensus across the entire Ethereum
community, both at Devcon and beyond. Ideologi provides an entertaining way to
involve potential attendees in the co-creation of the best possible event. The platform
could also be used at the event as the primary point of exchange where proposed
concepts, insights, and perspectives can be promoted, compared and rewarded for their
perceived value.
A Simple Use Case for Devcon: A hyperlogue for recommendations of the types of
retail products and services should be offered to attendees at our next conference.
Although there are a number of popular voting tools and services being used for such feedback, what’s missing is the level of consideration that each suggestion is insured in a hyperlogue, with the community being able to recognize and reward those with the most valuable insights.
Here’s a sample screenshot of two entries in a Devcon hyperlogue that are about to be evaluated against each other. Devcon organizers, as well as participants, could initiate as many hyperlogues as they wish to make the event as inclusive as possible…
The Six Phases of a Hyperlogue
-
A user posts a hyperlogue topic asking for retail product ideas along with its start date
and crowdfunding details. -
Interested users sign-up to participate in the hyperlogue by submitting an insight
(e.g., idea) of interesting retail products before the hyperlogue start date. -
When the tournament begins, each participant receives a pair of anonymous insights
from other participants to evaluate and grade against each other. -
This evaluation process is repeated multiple times, with each participant receiving a
series of unique pairs of insights to review. -
Once the last evaluation cycle is completed, the results of the hyperlogue are posted
for everyone to see. -
Funds that were crowdfunded for the hyperlogue are distributed to participants based
on the scores their insights received during the evaluation process.
Implementation
We propose that Devcon use the platform to create a series of ongoing hyperlogues
with various subject matters of interest to its community. At any point, Devcon can
choose to crowdfund a reward pool for participants or even allow users to submit
contributions to the crowdfund as a donation to Devcon.
The only fees for participation are a small percentage of the funds submitted by the
organizer of the Hyperlogue. L2 gas fees will apply.
We would also like to invite members of other communities in attendance at Devcon to
sign up to the platform to join and to create their own hyperlogues. Ideologi is a
platform that can be used by any community that is interested in collaboration and
consensus, especially those who are interested in using financial rewards to increase
engagement in their community.
The projected launch window for ldeologi is scheduled for March and we plan to
open the platform for limited beta release by select invitation. Early participants
generating value for the platform will be considered for token rewards.
Once Devcon 2025 has ended, all users will be free to continue using the account they
created on the platform. No formal feedback or data will be required from Devcon nor
the attendees. Users will be free to join any of the hyperlogues listed on the platform, as
well as initiate their own hyperlogues for other registered users to join.
Operational Requirements and Ownership
Ideologi Development, Inc. is the commercial entity that builds and operates the online platform called Ideologi. Although the process for creating and running a hyperlogue is designed to be intuitive and user-friendly, our core team can provide free assistance and advice to Devcon and member communities on how to get started. Individuals will need to set-up a free account on the platform to create or join a hyperlogue.
