Summary of Proposal
The Community Gardeners Hub is a gathering point for all community builders who want to connect, exchange experiences, network, and learn from one another. It’s also a place for Devcon attendees to discover and engage with various Ethereum communities and initiatives worldwide.
Motivation and Rationale
Ethereum, despite being a groundbreaking technology, wouldn’t be where it is today without its community – the Infinite Garden. And like any garden, the Ethereum Infinite Garden needs its Community Gardeners to thrive and bloom.
Some Gardeners are more successful than others, some make huge global impacts with their initiatives, while others focus locally. Regardless, each one plays a critical role in achieving the shared mission of making Ethereum more successful, accessible, and adopted.
The Community Gardeners hub will offer to all community builders and event organizers, big or small, aligned with the same mission a place to gather, get to know each other and connect better.
It will also give all attendees the opportunity to familiarize themselves with Ethereum communities from around the world, learn more about them and their initiatives, learn more about community building in general, and maybe get inspired to start their own community in their hometown when they return home.
It also provides all attendees the opportunity to learn about Ethereum communities from around the world, gain insights into community building, and perhaps even inspire them to start their own community when they return home.
Implementation
Program:
Each day will be dedicated to different regions where Ethereum communities are: Europe, the Americas, Africa, and Asia. While we will welcome all community builders and event organizers no matter their region all four days, we will put a special emphasis on communities coming from a specific region on their dedicated day.
Each day will focus on different regions where Ethereum communities are active: Europe, the Americas, Africa, and Asia. While community builders and event organizers from all regions are welcome every day, we will highlight communities from a specific region on their dedicated day.
Though the exact schedule is yet to be decide, we plan to organize the following over the four days:
- Panels, fireside chats or round-table discussions on community building and community-specific topics, including:
- How to organize a successful Ethereum hackathon?
- How to build up the Ethereum community in your city/country from the ground up?
- Sponsors’ point of view: A panel with representatives from companies like Linea, Optimism, Tenderly, DeFi Saver, and Lido on how they choose communities and events to support, and how they assess ROI, etc.
- Unlocking Africa: How can/is Ethereum improving the lives of people in Africa What is Africa’s role in mass adoption? How can we overcome travel restriction issues and be more inclusive of professionals and communities in Africa?
- Understanding Asia: Creating a bridge between Asian and non-Asian communities. How do Asian think of and look at other regions and their communities? How are Asian Ethereum communities fighting against sometimes very strict rules and regulations against crypto and web3? What is the future of Ethereum in Asia?
- Central Eastern Europe for dummies: Why is the CEE region often overlooked? What CEE region brings to the table? How can the CEE region become more attractive for everyone?
- Meet-and-greet sessions: Casual 2-hour networking sessions held daily.
- Office hours: schedule meetings with teams behind community initiatives and events
In addition to these sessions, we would like the Community Gardeners hub to be the place where Devcon attendees can get small swag items from different Ethereum communities, such as stickers, POAPs, etc.
List the equipment or production needs:
- Internet
- Easy access to power (power outlets)
- Screens

Team
The core team responsible for organizing the Community Gardeners Hub are also key members of the ETH Belgrade team. Through ETH Belgrade, we have established connections, advised, and inspired multiple Ethereum events and local organizations. We have all been working full-time in Web3 for the last few years, with expertise in engineering, management, and marketing, as well as experience in community building and event organization.
The Community Gardeners Hub will be free from marketing and promotion of specific tokens or projects. All talks and activities will focus on community builders and community building, making it a strictly no-shill zone. Additionally, a member of the organizational team will always be present to moderate and intervene if any promotional activity happens.
